So got new clamps for intake boots and new boots for airbos. Stock airbox setup. Bike ran decent before I replaced clamps.
Also had emulsion tubes someone drilled two of them .040 over. I drilled the other two to match.
Once reassembeled, started to get pops out of the 3-4 muffler (I have 4-2s)
Thought I would check timingt with my new light gun. I can line up 1-4 between the marks no problem. When i screw the plate back down, I cannot get the 2-3 marks to line up close. Its like a quarter inch off. I have checked the spring on advance and they look new and function normally...I can't figure it out.
Also pulled the plugs, and 2-3 were darker than the other two.
Theories:
1. Shouldve not dicked with emulsion tubes. I have good, unaltered new ones on the way.
2. Timing - no clue what is happening there. I am running a Dyna S ignition. Can I move the black crescents around to adjust? Maybe this is giving me my condition?
3. Could it be as simple as new plugs from when I was adjusting mix?
I am at 1 turn out on each carb for mix. I can get it to run at about 1200rpm but anything underneath it it wants to die?
This thing is close to kicking ass. Valves I know are good. I was meticulous and checked them again today. All is good there. See pics below
