Exhaust joint sealing
« on: June 07, 2015, 11:43:36 PM »
The PO of my bike put on some 2-4 slip on exhausts which are now thoroughly rusted out. Since the headers are already cut I'm replacing them with the same style. The didn't have any kind of clamp at the joints, which I never really though about until I had a good look at the pipes and saw a bunch of carbon that had blasted out of the crack. How are these things usually sealed? Just with a clamp? If so, what's the diameter of the pipe?

Most aftermarket "slip on" exhausts were just that. They just slipped over the header pipes with no clamps.
