Laydown frame photos
« on: June 08, 2015, 09:41:47 AM »
The frame looks like it was never run.....no burnout rubber under fender, no lube flung on the chain guard.  It weighs 28 pounds with seat/fender, chain guard, and oil tank.

Nice frame.

I'm 99.9% sure you have an early 1975 to early 1976 D&k 72" wheelbase dragster frame.  I am very familiar with that particular frame...

RP,  I sent you a pm yesterday about it.

If a 750 fork does not fit its because they set them up for cb or sl 125 forks.

754,

Absolutely.  I just got a cb125 tree/stem to remove the stem and fit it to a 35mm fork set of trees so I can make it work with the cb125 bearing set.  Grumble ...grumble.

Jaguar,

I got your message. Thanks.  Voice mail is cleared out now...  it's been round the clock busy for me lately.  I will call you later tonight if that's ok.

George

And yes.  That dragster is just like Bill Benton's recent acquisition, the yellow dragster.  And just like mine... Now there are three.

I didn't have a 'quality experience' with the D&K seat. Found out the hard way that sit up vs lay down launches can be REALLY different.  :o
You might want to invest in a cup.  ::)

Yup, sure is.  He had it on Ebay 2 weeks ago.  I had a nice talk with the guy.  He is in Port St Lucie Florida.  He didn't know the builder of the frame at the time.  I sent him the info he needed including his frame in the D&K catalog.  I encouraged him to join here, but haven't seen any posts from him.

There are probably more D&K frames than anything else for our cb750 motors.  There are at least 4 forum members here with this exact frame design, myself included.

Nice to see more of them.

RP,  could you post a photo of the left side of the steering neck for me?

George

George,

I looked over the neck and saw no numbers.  The paint is lacquer and not thick enough to fill in any numbers.   I will post some close up neck photos.

It is a 1060 or a 1080 according to people that know more on it's history....I haven't had it apart.  Spare motor that came with it is a smaller 71 mm bore.  There are more pictures of that ARD bike in the Time Capsule turbo Funnybike topic in this forum section.

Found another barn find......actually the same owner as the blue D&K I found a couple years ago.  Let a friend get it since I have enough projects.  He will show it in unrestored condition.

Not sure if it is a K0 lower end.  It was built and raced in the early 70's by Jim Ludiker.  Frame was built by an employee of Logghe Stamping Company.  Mechanical front discs are very cool. 4 inch Avon slick...pre wheelie bar days for sure.
