1976 Honda CB550 Engine compatibility
« on: June 08, 2015, 03:13:15 PM »
I'm working on a 76 honda cb550 and was wondering if a 1975 cylinder head would fit on it or a 74. Is there a place I can go to find out what other parts are interchangeable with other years? Thanks!

The heads are the same.  You can check the parts fiche to see if the part number are the same......

There were some improvements in the rocker arm assembly on the 77-78 engines, but the heads should still interchange

i haven't found any diffs in heads for any of the cb550s yet. Rocker boxes changed  to the pinned shaft type in 77 (or was it 76)?
I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.

For once and for all, will you guys please stop communicating in years? The inaccuracy and errors I read here, it's just unbelievable. If you don't know what you're talking about, stifle it.
For comparison look here at an answer I just gave. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,148598.msg1693836.html#msg1693836
I recommend consulting Parts Lists over these fiches because the latter lack the overall overview.
