Years ago a friend of mine, did a project just like this. He got a wrecked cbr600(front end crash), got a titled salvage frame, and got another cbr600(wrecked rear end). Got the parts he needed out of the two wrecked bikes and put them into the "new" frame.
I want to do the same thing with a Triumph Thruxton. Triumph started producing Thruxtons in 2004. Since its 2015, and 2016 soon enough. I know that if I got parts from a 2004, a 2006, and a 2010. They may not all meet up. My thought is, if I can find a group of years 2004-2008, or 2010-2015. All or at least most of the major parts will be interchangeable.
Is their a Triumph mechanic on this form, or a friend of a friend that could give me that group years to start planning and looking for parts. I have a cb750 that I have taken apart, engine and all. I am still riding her today. I know I can do it. I am looking for a little insight and knowledge, instead of looking through parts diagrams until I am blue in the face. Buying a new bike would be easy, but the challenge, and some cost saving would be nice.
