I like that fiberglass seat pan.  Where did you purchase it, if I might ask?

It is from roc city cafe racers.  Airtech had a similar one but this seemed easier to upholster a cushion for.

It's been a few weeks since I posted hasn't it?!  I have a few updates.  Will let photos do the talking... Hope to mate the motor and frame this week.

This was the most I could remove of the old gasket.  This was after about 8 hours or scraping and a block sand with 800 grit.

Motor went back together smoothly.

Cleaned the pan and changed the gasket.  The oil pump screen was pretty clean so I didn't bother going any further.

I love the look of polished covers and an aluminum colored engine but I felt like changing it up a little bit this time.  I painted the motor with VHT low gloss black

Next I had to address the covers etc.

Don't worry I got new kick start and shifter rod seals- left the old ones in easy masking!

I went with the same subaru black pearl on all the parts, as well as the body side covers

I'm still not sure of a theme for this bike so I didn't do a name embossed on the points cover this time.  I drew up this classic Honda Motors logo and printed it out then bodyworked and painted it along with the rest of the bits.  The relief areas will be painted silver

Put everything back on with new gaskets and an alloyboltz bolt kit.  The chain tensioner housing and valve tappet covers I wire wheeled for a finish somewhere between bead blasted and polished.

Quick mock up of the frame with the tank and tail section.  The body work is done on those (black epoxy) I just need to 2k and block sand then paint them- or hydrodip?  I'm considering doing the bodywork with the wood pattern again I just love the way it looks so much.  Maybe racing stripes in pearl white with a teal pinstripe?

I love the way the OBP looks and have considered copying it on my frame if/when I ever get to that point. Very nice.

Have been chugging along pretty good on this.

Engine to frame mating a success!

The fender was a bit crusty near the back where the stay attaches so I decided to bob it- not heavily, just a nice amount.  I coated the ends with por15 glistenpc

Shot of the HM points cover.  I'll wait to put it on until the end.

Getting it wired up, controls, lights, etc. installed

had to shorten a few bits with the clip on bars

Wheel painted with new tire

waiting on shocks, cables, etc. in the mail.

Thanks for the compliments guys!  I'm real excited how it's shaping up.  But I'm still way unsure what to do with the tank and tail.  Side covers are already metallic black.

It took me a few hours to figure out the turn signal wiring since I switched to aftermarket 2 wire signals.  To save anyone else the trouble here's what you need to do when making connections inside your headlight bucket wile also deleting the running lights:

Leave blue/white wire from left hand control unplugged
Leave orange/white wire from left hand control unplugged
Do not connect the brown/blue to the brown/blue wire (put electrical tape over male end)
Connect the brown wire to a black wire (ignition pos. 1 +12v).  Normally this wire is left unconnected in the bucket
Connect the orange and blue power wires from your signals to the corresponding colored wires in the main harness
Ground the 2nd wire from each front turn signal (connect to solid green in headlight bucket)

In the rear you connect everything just like you would from the factory

Hope this helps anybody else that gets stuck.

This is really nice build! Tank and tail will also black ? :)

Still not sure.  I don't really care for the all black look.   I'm considering a hydrodip again (wood, marble, carbon?)  or a heavy gold candy bowling ball effect, both would have racing stripes or graphics over top.

If you like hydrodip maybe try it with some pastel color... old school color with hydrodip... if it is possible :)

If I do the same hydrodip pattern as the other I would like to do a turquoise graphic and maybe some gold 1/8" pinstripes to border it.  I wanted to do that before but I chickened out and went with the black :-\

I've gone through the 78 PD carbs, they were really really nice inside and didn't need much cleaning at all.  Air pump too.  However,  I ran into a snag when I went to put them back on.  The boots for the airbox are for earlier kehin carbs and I can't find a set of PD airbox boots here.  Turning to the internet for the correct boots, I found plenty but I don't think it's worth spending the dough for PD boots when I prefer setting up the earlier carbs anyways.  The boots I have are really nice and soft still and I have a good rack of 657b's that I'll use instead.  I put keihin 125 mains in at the stock needle clip position since I have the 4-1 open pipe; fingers crossed this is a good starting point.

I 3-d printed some clips to hold the overflow tubes neatly together.  If anyone wants these PD carbs I'll give you a good deal on them!

How much? Also, did you replace the accel pump crossover tubes? If so, did you fish the little brass restrictors out of the old tubes for use in the new ones?

Looking good by the way!  8)

I do have those but didn't replace them when I put the new hoses on.  There are 4 total so hopefully I didn't miss any!  I'd take $80 on the pd42b carbs.  Also have a set of pd41a "for parts" if they're of any use to somebody.

Actually, there are only three crossovers, from 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4. $80 sounds pretty reasonable, do you have a set of roundtops? Would you be up for a trade for a decent set of round tops?

Haven't had a chance to update this build.  Progress has been slow as of late, but I'm very close.  Installing the exhaust, doing the custom paint, seat upholstery are about all that's left.  I still have yet to fire it up.

Thanks buddy.  So I've decided to hydrodip the tank and tail section.  I dip everything outside and the weather will not let up at the moment!
