Gorgeous bike! I would keep it as original as possible. Personally, I love the old front fender with top and bottom braces. The K5 I used to own had the front fender "modernized" by the previous owner, eliminating the top brace and cutting the fender back to hide the screw holes. Please don't do that, she looks good just as she is!

Thanks. I really want to keep this bike original. I love the style just the way it is.

I would however like to take some of these original parts off, store them and do whatever upgrades I can do to make her as reliable as possible. This way I can kinda have the best of both worlds.

We have already been though an emotional time. Here's the "story".

I won an Ebay auction. Description says great this and that tuneup carb clean perfect see photo's ect..

I contact seller (motorcycle shop) and they say "you can tow it or we'll deliver".
I say "description says it's perfect. why tow? I wanna ride it home."
They say "ok, you're right, we'll service it and call you tomorrow."

I call them every day.

3 days later.. I get confirmation to go pickup. When I get there they are still "tuning". I'm paid up and registered they do inspection. They sign off on the bike.

Now I see a problem no one bothered to mention. The side stand bent and broke the weld.
(Side stand not included with the bike)

At this point i'm pretty annoyed and all I want to do is get her home.

I ride home and it was a blast.

I park and let her sit for a few hours then I take a ride to fill up the tank.
She idles rough and sounds like not everything is firing.
She bogs and has no power.
I'm super annoyed at these liars.

(good on the ride home, not good 2 hours later?)

BUT.

The bike is Beautiful. No rust.. clean. just over 7500 miles.

I'm going to be on this forum a lot! I'm so glad this is here!
