Kinda a n00b
« on: June 12, 2015, 05:53:59 PM »
Hey guys, whats up.

N00b to the forum, but not to the 750 SOHC. I've owned a few of them from a 69 sandcast to buying a brand new K8 in 1978 (I rode the hell out of that one). Got out of them for a while and got a 77 in 2003 for $100.00, got it running in time to lose it in the Old Fire. Had some HD's and a few Kawa's but have always had a love for the 750 SOHC.

Picking up a 78 tomorrow that needs a little love....it runs, drives, and stops, but has a few issues and is missing some parts. Havent decided what I'm going to do to it yet, but will get it running the way it should first.

The new beast as it is now, like that its not been to molested and it still has the stock pipes. Maybe make it a decent long distance cruiser

Nice score! Looks like a good bike to restore, seeing how it has the 4 into 4 exhaust. I had a k5 that my wife at the time made me get rid of. I am always on the lookout for another cb750k. Until then I will ride this cb650c !

Its home now!

Initial shakedown.......

The frame and engine numbers match

It has a clean title and is registered

It sounds pretty solid with no noises in the engine after a 5 minute warm up

It wont idle and smells of raw fuel

The front forks leak badly

Rear brakes seems non-existent

The 4 into 4's are in decent shape and not rusty

The front tire is SCARY!!

It has a new battery

And it missing ALOT of parts that I am already starting to procure.

Hey Desert, just where in the desert are you? IIRC, the Old fire came close to my property on the desert side of the mountain near Big Bear.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

I'm in Menifee now, just above Temecula. I lived in Cedar Glen on the mountain during the old fire.

Welcome!
I see a lot of potential in that one, your right it hasn't been molested from what I can see in the pics.
What was wrong with the front tyre? Bald or just a bad brand? The tyres that came with my CB750 say "made in Korea, Do not exceed 200kmph" :S
