Hi Just registered as a member and its good to see other Rickmans being restored.
Mine is a 1979 in black ( as seen on this forum years ago ).
It's now stripped down to the frame ready to be taken to the Chroming co. that I use. They will look at the best way to strip the Nickle plating off and re plate it.
Various persons mention about chemical damage after re plating but my Chroming co. who have done this before suggest drilling two holes in the frame where not seen for washing through the frame after stripping the old nickle off. I would after replating fill the frame with a loose oil and flush through, thus avoiding any rust from the inside. This maybe overkill but it wont do any harm.
The bike will end up orange as I have always liked this colour.
The wheels a believe are Kawasaki but not sure, when I post pictures others may let me know.
Engine is F2 black in colour and sort of running but this will be completely stripped, rebuilt and shiny in colour.
Although I have the twin seat,I also have the single seat longer tank.
Now question....
The fuel tank is a steel tank with fibreglass over covers, this tank is in excelent condition but look WW2 ish.
It's going off my shot blasting and powder coat in the next week.
There seems to be ally tanks and these steel type tanks is this correct
??
