Still waiting on parts so I got to some things that needed some attention. Pulled the rear tire assembly off to see why the rear brakes didn't work.....you guessed it PO "I have no Idea what I'm doing". I assumed that the shoes were wore out and they were almost new. I guess when they put the arm on it was a tooth off, so I corrected that and Wa-La I have a rear brake with plenty of adjustment. Installed a new drive chain and pulled the front wheel off, checked the bearings and got the screw to come out of the speedo drive so I can replace the cable. I will have to rebuild the front forks soon, they are leaking pretty bad, but I have not drained the oil from them yet. I would not be surprised to find them over filled but will order the rest of the parts so that they are here for the future. The carbs are done and waiting for the Viton seals.....should be here tomorrow. Oh, and I pulled the cover back off of the seat and reinstalled it, this time with ALOT of pulling and stretching......it aint perfect but it looks MUCH better.
Did some more cleaning and whoever painted the engine didn't do a very good job of cleaning it first. As I clean it more and more paint just wipes off, so it will look funky for a while till I can pull the engine to repaint and polish some stuff and get the rest of the frame clean. I think this winter (all 4 weeks of it) I will have the frame and swingarm powder coated and do new upgraded bushings and bearings in the swingarm and steering neck too, of coarse that depends on how well it runs when I get it back together in the next few weeks.
