The UGLY SEAT CLUB
« on: June 14, 2015, 01:45:15 PM »
So, over the last few years, while buying  4's with and without seats and having to hunt for seats, I have run into some of the most hideous  slabs of foam to park one butt on. I don't know if there's been a thread to address this issue but there should be, cause allot of these things are so damn funny looking that it's hard to believe somebody actually made them , and worse yet someone else actually bought one..
Okay, I'll admit , I have some ugly seats on a couple of my bikes....but I'm always looking to upgrade.
How many of us bought our machines with a touring couch on it? I thought they were the winners if there was an ugly seat award but , recently.... I just have to show you this one.
This was made in Portland, Oregon  USA ( Now I'll understand if the guys that worked at the factory in their college days don't chime in to take credit for it.) by a company called CYCLEPRO. This came in on a recent Yamaha drop off.
The pros are :
It has a lightweight plastic seat pan with some modifications can be adapted to a 550
It seems to be comfortable for the single rider, molded nicely to keep even my skinny a$$ from slipping off
Has lots of excess foam on it that could be trimmed back to a half ways decent looking cafe seat with little effort
The cons are:
Has lots of excess foam on it that should have been trimmed back so's it wasn't this freakin ugly,
Look at this  giant duck's a$s on the back of this thing, Nothing says "to the Batcave Robin" to me like this seat..
I'd want to wear a mask under my helmet if it was on my bike, to secure my identity when the helmet comes off
or have a second way to the garage  on some unused backroad where the police barrier automatically drops  drops down and stands back up each time you pass it on this machine.
here it is , in all it's glory

If anyone else has seen a real beauty seat somewhere, and wants to share, I'd like to see it .
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
550 Snowbike -Somebody had to do it.

Ok, I'll play. My 750 came with this beauty....

I may be out of the club, though. I promptly removed the seat after this photo was taken and threw it directly into the trash bin!

Ahhhh the quilted king /queen touring couch, lovely as always. You didn't say that you threw it out, it's not in the living room is it?
Stev-O has the sohc gag reflex, pull the pins and hide it in the trash barrel before anyone else gets sick.
Isn't it hard to believe that those behemoth seats were in style, and someone loved them.
I know some members here still have these seats, sorry guys, go on loving them, even though they are ugly, somebody"s got to.

This is the only thing I can see to do with those K/Q s short of tossing them.

How many have seen one of these lovelies

I've been so desperate to find a seat, on one dark day I cut a bedliner out of my truck
and made a seat out of that

and yes , it's ugly

lol...last 750f I bought had that exact seat.  When I sat on it I felt like vomiting.  I had to throw it out as every time I saw it, I would feel nauseous.

This was how my bike was purchased. It was embarrassing to trailer it home with a seat like that!

Ugly. It's not only limited to some factory seat it seems the  replacement seatcovers can be revolting too
Saddleman , I hate them

Then there is this

which is only just a little better than this

like that could have been the vinyl that covered Granddad's briefcase
Then I've seen a few of these around

Just what the fcuk is that supposed to be ?
Must be the pillow to the touring couch. Is there a coffee table that goes with the set?

MoMo ,That still looks allot better than what it did look like.

The padding and cover are shot, but the shape isn't horrible.  It almost looks like a soft version of what Carpy calls a duckbill seat:

No, for me it was that muffler.

You're talking to a guy who bolted a Fred Meyer 20 buck plastic tool chest to the back of his KLR650 and called it a top case. ;D  Even have photos to prove it.

Here ya go.........just bought the seat (it was cheap) and its VERY comfy. Don't really care how it looks right now, once I built my sissybar and add a back pad.........it will look like its right out of the 70's.

The one I sat on going to Sturgis wasn't ugly to look at, just ugly to sit on. It was peaked in the center so it could split you in half and slippery sloped to the front to keep my nuggies properly smashed at all times. I learned to stand over the bike, adjust my boy things and pull my pants down an inch or so before sitting. That helped for 30 minutes or so.
I bought a sheep skin pad and took a hacksaw blade to the foam before coming home. It's much better now. Certain parts are still healing up.  It's on the $250 goldwing I rode out and back.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I may still have the one that came with my K2 somewhere in my garage. PM if you want it, just looking for shipping + whatever (if you are in the US).

Has to be from a K7/8 the fender mounts are father back than the earlier SOHC's. Although I might be able to modify it to work.

I was dialing 911 when we got to the Cheetos girls,
hung up when we got to the wayward woodworker on his rocking horse,
still can't see why the bald man needs handlebars...might he need training wheels too,
Got to the last pic...why would anyone want to be the handlebar guy?

A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
