No....this will not be it.  ::)
We're still exposing and taking care of all the little things you should have already done in the 'maintenance' of the bike.

You've still got the 'tuning' to do  ::)

Personally I wouldn't use guitar wire.

carb cleaner, steel wool, wire to poke the holes clean.  Scrub them.
Soaking them, does nothing.

screemn2,

I am by no means a carb expert.  But, from reading other threads and hearing about problems, I have kind of an off the wall question for you.

Have you checked for Air leaks at the carb to engine boots?
One of the other guys can give you more info on how to do this, but I believe you fire her up and spray some carb cleaner around the connections.
In Hondaman's book I recall reading something about doing this and that the idle will change if there is a leak.

This is just a thought and probably way out in left field, but seemed like at least something that might help rule out another problem, since you have had the carbs on and off a couple of times.

Hope this helps,

Charlie

A quick way to shrink the bowl gaskets is to simmer them in water. I forget how long. maybe 10 minutes.
DON'T do this when your wife is home.

Good luck
Steve

Get no-swell gaskets.   The ones that expand can, and will.  Then there is a chance that your floats will hang on them.
Been through that.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

+1
Viton is the material which will not swell.  if it doesnt say Viton, find another seller.
