GSX-R fork conversion
« on: June 15, 2015, 08:25:00 AM »
Hey guys,

So i'm thinking of ideas for what i'm going to do after my INS takes care of my crash and was wondering if anyone has done the  GSX-R fork conversion? I've read a bunch about it but would like to hear peoples thoughts on if it was worth it and such. but my big question is if you need to upgrade the rear wheel and swingarm? or is that something you can leave stock?
thanks guys

Lots of build threads with gsxr front ends. You can leave the rear stock. You can even use a stock rim up front. I have a stock 550 rim on the front, and a 750 rim laced to a 550 hub on the rear.

How'd you pull off stock rim on the front?

Yeah let me know what your selling them for calj737? still haven't made a plan yet but i'm thinking about it.
so i'm guessing just a straight swap of a gsxar front end would be stupid because of the wheel size difference? not like i really love the look of the the handle bars and such but just thinking it would be cheaper then relacing a wheel.

Ok let me see if i'm following.

GSXR Parts

 -Rotors
 -Brakes
 -Tubes
 -Axle

New Parts

 - 750 stem/GSXR Triple
 - spokes
 - Cogito Hub
 - Bearings

Old Parts

 - CB750 wheel

I think i'm going with clip-ons but i'm not a fan of the gsxr look so i'm going to go with my own look for bars and leaver setup. i'll let you know when i make a plan.

So got a question about the front fender with the Gsx-R conversion what are people doing? I really hate the look of the fiber glass fender. has anyone gone without the fender like the guy from cognitomoto?

Here's a shot of my 78' CB750F so far w/ the front end all bolted up w/o the fender to give you an idea of what it looks like:

Yeah I like the look. And I don't ride in the rain really at all. More wondering for stability on turns and such. Foyil100 let me know how it rides when you get it all together.

No fender on mine. Feels okay. Not sure if it's needed for stability.
