Imagine the hit Jerry's gonna take on that new corvette he bought last year?!
Of course, without those 3 wives, he's prolly got money to burn!

The Vette is going to the grave with me  :) Got to keep my cash stash (pre-marital) just don't need to work much anymore.  ;D  Actually quit that seriousness on my 52nd bday 13 years ago after the head-on bike crash. Seriousness be damned!! The $$ burning will be coming soon  ;) Just don't know if I can put down Old Faithful. That will be my dilemma when the time comes.. Greg, I'll call then for support.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

With the first tax return in USA I bought 1986 CJ7 with 70 000 miles on it - June 1998 - and used it to commute to work on 95 and Capital Beltway in DC.  What a dumb move, but I got used to it.

Engine swap, frame up rebuild (new used frame and body) and transmission swap later, I still drive that darn thing.  300 000 miles and ticking, I can never let it go.

Wife's Grand Cherokee is 210 000 miles, took our family to Yellowstone in 2007 and to Tombstone, AZ and Grand Canyon in 2013 - that will be hard one to let go too.

I feel your pain, Greg, it's like death in the family.

Don't ever, EVER buy a Honda hybrid. Worst POS I've ever owned. Bad tranny design, battery pack seems to last until just past warranty. Ours was in the shop more than any other car I've ever owned. I wished I would've spent the extra cash for the Prius.

Of course my 1989 Honda civic is still going strong. Looks like crap but it will run for a long time. That was back when Honda got it's great reputation.

Actually there was a guy buried in his car, it may have been a Vette, it was a long time ago. I think you of course have to pay for a couple of plots. When you think about it you will be down there a long time, so it's not much on a per day basis.  ;D

Jeez, this reminds me of my first truck.  1983 fix or repair daily Ranger short box.  Worked on that truck from my 15th birthday until I got my license at 17.  Drove it until the starter fell off the bell housing.  Got rid of the truck when the replacement bell house started cracking at the same place.  Which was about 2 months after the install.

Then there was my jeep.  It was an unstoppable force of nature until the motor mount bolts started turning themselves out and dropping the block.

I agree that it was likely neglected at some point during those first 100K miles.  I had a 1992 that ran forever.  I sold it with 100K or so miles to a friend, who drove it another 100K with no problems.  I adhered to the maintenance schedule like clockwork.

How it's taken care of is key I've found.  You can beat on a Honda all day and night (within reaosn), but if you do the required maintenance it will come back for more.  Three water pumps?  That's silly.  There's something else going on there.  There's something else farther up the food chain causing that.  Some valves probably burned up in the head, caused a gasket to fail.  Not catastrophically, but just enough to drop the coolant level so that it always ran hot and ended up killing pumps.
