So sorry to hear that !! Just did the brakes all around on a 2000 GMC 1500 Sierra for a buddy. Nice riding truck when I took it for a spin. Pictures don't look super bad but those parts add up quick I guess.Did any messy airbags deploy ? Glad your OK I hope. Guy ran a red light last spring and took the front of my minivan off,  sheite can happen so quick.

My turn:

Was driving down 5th St and some "stupido" changed lanes without looking and plowed right into me!

Just bought this truck 4 months ago.

To make matters worse, my wife's infinity is in the shop cuz some idiot hit her in a parking lot [hit and run!]

Where is the quote from?   Seems to be high, I mean I worked in body shop 5 years ago but prices did not double over last 5 years.

Hood, bumper, fender, light - any more damage?

The problem is most body shops and mechanics shops don't "fix" things anymore they just replace with new parts. That's what costs so much. Paint jobs have gotten expensive too. They will probably want to repaint the whole thing to match.

Springer here's what i would do, let them total it if they have to, you will have first option to buy it back for cheap. Take the money to a local trade school with a body shop, they will usually do it for the cost of parts. It's a nice truck and the damage isn't severe unless as smoeone mentioned the airbag deployed. If not no big deal. I would try and keep it. Better than forking out $50K for a new one. Or trusting someone else's used junk.

My daughter 99 Camry got hit in a parking lot by some unknown bastard.  Hole in the front bumper, I got a new bumper cover on eaby and fixed it for 100 bucks total because I used just Perfect match to spray paint it and clear coat from TSC - thats actually excellent paint.

Body parts are cheap, the body shop I worked in was 1-2 man show and we did these insurance jobs all the time.

As long as there is no frame bent, this is an easy fix and as Duanob said, don't buy somebody elses problems.

I feel your pain. I barely got to tinker with my SOHC today. Some A-hole hit my wife's Avalanche in the parking lot of the local Walmart ( God, I hate that place!) . My Fathers day was spent straightening the front bumper and rubbing out the smudges on the chrome and plastic. Almost good as new.
