Seat covers from Ebay.
« on: June 09, 2015, 11:19:08 PM »
Hey All,
I ordered a seat cover for my '81 cb650c on Ebay from a seller called Mac32756. Has anyone here had any experience with this seller? He has a 99.5 % rating on Ebay, and his prices were very low. My current seat cover is totally weathered and cracked. I posted this same question on Vendors thread, but I don't think very many members read that.

Since you already ordered it post up a review of it when you get it and install it.

I've bought from PitReplica on ebay before and thought it was the best quality for the buck. It was more like OEM than anything else <$100. Good quality vinyl, heat stamped pattern instead of stitched, came with strap but no buckles.

I've bought 2 seat covers from Mac32756 for mine and my kids 750. If you're wanting a seat cover that is an exact replica of the original meaning having the same stitch pattern as original then his seat covers aren't for you however if 100% originality isn't an issue but just having a seat cover that looks and fits good is your top priority ........ and you're on a tight budget then his seat covers are a good bargain. My kid has had his for going on 4 years now and mine for 3 with no problems. There have been others here that didn't like his seat covers so hopefully they'll chime in to explain.

Thanks Bailgang! Thats pretty much what I am expecting. I am kind of on a tight budget. I really would like an original seat cover, but I just need something to cover the seat NOW! At this point a black garbage bag held on with electrical tape would look better than my original seat cover. (No, I have not done that ......yet) I will post before and after pics, and my review

When I was a kid, my buddy's CT70 had exactly that on it.  But duct tape...

okay. I disassembled the old seat, and allowed the seat cushion to dry almost 24 hours.

The new seat cover had some really bulky edge seams due to the addition of piping, and padding.  I trimmed as much of the excess material as I dared.

the seat cover fit nicely on the now dry seat cushion. Following the instructions that came with the seat cover, I used a staple gun starting at the back. The stainless trim along the seat bottom edge presented a different challenge. There are 9 little aluminum studs that slide in the channel on the hidden side of the trim and are held in place with tension nuts. The studs are also bent over once they pass thru the nuts. More than half of the studs snapped off when I tried to remove them. So, my challenge was to find a suitable replacement for the studs. I decided to use #10-32 round head screws. I used a bench grinder to reduce the screw heads so that the would fit and slide smoothly in the channel. I was preoccupied trying to do the repair, I didn't take pics except for these:
