Been lurking for a month now and thought I'd sign up, introduce myself and get some input from the more experienced. My name is Blake and I retired from the US Navy in March of 2014 and found myself getting board and looking for a project to keep me busy. Well I finally admitted to myself and came to realize that a 72 Blazer wouldn't fit in my shed so I started thinking bike... My father-in-law and I have always been into motorcycles and cars and always 'spot' cars on the side of the road or in yards and dream about them. The last bike we saw was an old Honda parked in the carport near his other daughters house in what she thought was an abandoned house. So me being me I went and checked out the bike, knocked on the door and asked what his plans were. Well he didn't have any plans and I didn't know anything about CB750's at the time. He told me a price that seemed to good to pass up, I came home and did a little research on here and some other venues and found out it was in fact worth it. That leads to the "Lucky K0" handle... I am now the proud owner of a 1970 CB750 K0 with a Feb of 70 build date, not a sand-cast, I am not that lucky... Engine locked up, diesel in the cylinders now, wiring is shot, carbs need cleaned, a fin on the left hand side is broken, and a lot of tlc will be needed. My 3 year old is already laying claim and telling people it is his motorcycle...
It currently has the brake and the throttle on the left hand side, dealership mod because the original owner was missing his right hand... The only thing missing off the bike was the lower part of the intake box and when I stopped by the sister-in-laws house the other day I asked the original owner if I could look in his garage for it and found it on the workbench... Another part of the "Lucky" seeing how the buy now price on the bay for replacement was $699.
Plans are a slow teardown and rebuild over the next year or more budget pending, no rush and working around family time.
Hope to get to know a few of you and pick your brains for corporate knowledge!
