Dyna S Adjust Timing (78 CB750k)
« on: June 19, 2015, 05:12:25 PM »
I have a 1978 Honda CB750k with Dyna S Ignition.

Should my circuit tester light come on when marker lines up with the 'F' or when it is in-between the advance timing marks?

This is a 17 second video of me lining up with the F. Is this right?

Man I have no clue nor have I've seen anyone set the Dyna S with a light.. do you have a timing light? That's the easiest way. It takes maybe 2 min to dial in the ignition.

Crispin, the installation instructions for the Dyna S say that when static timing to hold the advancer in full advance and set to the full advance marks. They also say to follow up with a timing light for best results.

If you don't have the instructions shoot me a PM and I'll send you a PDF for them.

'F' will lign up well if the adv springs are OK.
Mine had become sloppy with full advance way too early at 1500rpm instead of 2500 or after. Cut 1/2 turn of both springs. Pamco, Dyna-S and TEC points lined upp correct after that with OK idle and full advance at ~2600-2800 rpms

RevDoc, thank you, I will DM you.  8)

I do not have a timing light, but I am not opposed to getting one. I've seen people test it with a circuit tester and it's called Static Timing.

Static timing is fine but with the light you would be done. Literally 2 mins.
