That'd be right, you guys in America can buy hamburgers big enough to kill you in one sitting, or guns at your local 7/11, but you can't have Vegemite because it contains something that is apparently good for you? Go figure............  ???

That's friggin' stupid!  I would say since the law states it can "only be added to bread and cereals" that putting it on toast counts, eh?

That's it, I'm gonna become an international Vegemite "Mule", I'll swallow condoms full of vegemite and fly to America, where I'll poo 'em out for those poor souls deperate for that unique taste! Cheers, Terry. ;D

If it makes you feel any better, or our FDA any dumber, you can buy vegemite here, although it cannot exceed the magic 4 oz./113 gram limit per jar (see Wikipedia).  The shop mentioned in the article has Vegemite in stock in the magic 113 gram jars.  I don't know how you feel about swallowing condoms, but they'd have to contain more than 113 grams each to break the law.

The article missed one piece of serious stupidity.  Since 1996, the US FDA has required breads and other products to contain folic acid.

If it were domestically made in the US, the vegemite industry would lobby several congressmen and slip a few hundred grand under the table. The representatives who have vegemite producers in their districts would fear voter backlash of the industry collapse and force the FDA to change the allowable amounts so vegemite would safely pass.
For any company outside the US - well there ya go.

   Say it ain't so! :o :o :o I've been hooked on the stuff ever since Terry(the pusher) provided me with some all the while claiming it wouldn't lead to other more harmful consumables. Well, so far it hasn't but if I can't have my Vegemite I'll be having something to try and compensate. Hmmm...maybe I'll start my own back-room Vegemite factory. Once something is illegal there's good money in it.   ;D

I'm still trying to find out what this stuff is. I've found it is made with brewers yeast? Hell, it must be good then. Do you think it will go good in my raw hamberger recipe?
