Next thing you'll be telling us it's like fine wine. ::)

Truly Bob, it's closer to a jar full 'o dregs.  As far as I know, Vegemite is made from what's left of brewer's yeast after it's been used to make beer.

The last paragraph may explain some of Terry's posts of late.  ???

The FDA has approved adding folic acid to select foods as a way to ensure that consumers, particularly pregnant women, get enough of the vitamin. If artificial folate were more prevalent, though, it's possible that people could ingest too much. The recommended daily allowance of folic acid from synthetic foods is 0.4 milligram per day for people older than 19. (For comparison's sake, a "single serving" of Vegemite has 0.1 milligram of folate.) The "tolerable upper limit," or the maximum amount of folic acid a person should eat in a day, is 1 milligram.

Why is the FDA wary of folate? Because little research has been done into the consequences of ingesting large quantities of the stuff. Nutritionists say that the biggest concern is that excessive folate consumption could mask a dangerous vitamin B-12 deficiency, particularly in the elderly. A 2005 study suggested that elderly people who ingested high amounts of folic acid or folate saw their mental capabilities decline more rapidly than seniors who did not take folate or folic acid supplements.

Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

We are both men and we can dish it out and we can take it. Back in the bad old days I lifted some Aussie troops up and down a Valley, nice fellas and tough. They gave us a case of Vegemite as a gift, I tried it once. We did however toss the containers into hostile villages and it would neutralize them for a day. Thanks for serving (a bit early for Veterans' day).  Where in NY are you?  I'm upstate near Binghamton.

I am downstate in Westchester County. I knew Binghamton and the Tri Cities very well as I used to visit a plant in Endicott every month. Very pretty area, which took quite a hard hit when IBM, EJ Shoes and Link moved out. I do not miss Rt 17 very much.

Yup, 17 is miserable.  We are experiencing just a bit of resurgence here.  Lockheed took over the Owego facility, and it's spurred some positive growth.  Nothing like the old days, but the growth is nice.

Piss off Nick, you're just another jealous Pommy dickhead who can't stand your own country (or you're on the run for spreading mad cow disease through sexual contact) so you've punished the poor bloody Canadians with your presence, and have had your tastebuds (whatever were left of them after a diet of black pudding and warm piss) further destroyed by an over indulgence in of moose-turd burgers! F*cking Marmite indeed, the only f*cking good thing that ever came out of Britain was the ship "The Endeavour"! Geez, a Pom commenting on fine cuisine when the most popular meal in Britain is curry? What a Wanker! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Actually, the Germans invented cold beer. Well alright, it was the Dutch, or the Czechs, I don't remember. Lager, my good friends, is beer that is fermented at a temperature of 50 degrees F. or less using a specific strain (or strains ) of yeast. Ales, which our pasty white limey friends are fond of, are generally fermented at a temperature of 60 degrees F. of slightly warmer. And while it is true that many British pubs dispense their wares at cellar temperature, a British cellar is generally 50 degrees f. or there abouts. Not exactly warm. We Americans drink our beer ice cold because that is the temperature it is brewed at and therefore also consumed at. That, and the fact that most American style pilsners taste like piss; I for one would prefer all my drinkin' piss to be as cold as possible. ;D

Well I spent a bit of time there in 1974 Nick, and Brits were certainly drinking "room temperature" beer back then............. ;D

Clearly, this is a matter of national standards.  Having invented ice (Al Gore) and air conditioning (Billy Carrier), Americans have a different sense of warm and cold. ;)
