What year is your Jeep? Here is the Willys I think I an going to restore next winter.

I smashed out half a windshield with my head in one of those. The truck had a reputation for not ever getting stuck, but a submerged tree stump stopped it in it's tracks and I flew forward into it.

Hit the front differential and stopped it on a dime. Bloody mess.

On the road again!  However, it still needs some work, like transmission cover :)

I had to pull the transmission again, the throwout bearing kicked the bucket.

Only 300 000 miles on it, would you belive it?

I blame my son for it -  he was practising stick shift.

Anyway, new bearing, all buttoned up and back on the road. Sure I feel good about it, but sometimes I am getting tired of all the crap I have to fix.

I'd never pull a manual trans and not put in a new throwout bearing. Especially on a 4wd. But that's just me.

Yes, and some people would not do it without replacing the whole clutch.  It was a gamble and I lost  ;)

Few years ago when I replaced the clutch, the starter ring on the flywheel went sour - same story, drop transmission and replace $20 worth of parts in 6 hours or so.
