So I have searched and seem to be getting inconsistent information.
I want to remove the needles and slides to check them out and clean them. I already removed the bowls, jets, floats, etc from the bottom end.
How do you remove the needles and slides? The manual says that you have to remove each carb from the rack by disconnecting the individual choke rods and the 2, 6mm screws on the stay plate. Then separate the carburetors.
This would mean you would be disconnecting the fuel line "T"s and the crossover tubes as well.
There has to be a better way to do this, I dont really want to separate each carb just to clean, check and reinstall the needles and slides. Is there an easier way to do this?
Is there a way to remove the lifter arms out of the way to get the tops free? That really is the only thing interfering with the removal. The tops just unscrew and are free but the lifter arms are stopping me from getting the slides up and out.
Oh and yes I know that I need a new throttle return spring and need to clean off all that gunk from the outside, the internals are in great shape after I opened up the bottom to clean them. These were my before photos and I havent taken any more since taking them off the bike.
