I didn´t buy the chain from classic cycle city i bought it from bike side. It lokks like the same the classic cycle city sell. When i make the photo i saw that 3 or 4 links are really have to move. I think the chain where damaged then the teeth are breaking.

Are the chains opened and riveted again? I think about offset link mentioned earlier.
The chain shape reminds me about my latest drive chain and first attempts to rivet solid links. I had to remove master link an do it again with a new link when I did it too hard first time. Chain got a Z shape.

PeWe, I don't think the mentioned offset link that you are picturing is what they meant. They meant alternating the inside and outside links between the two chains.

Couple of pictures here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,79183.msg1492407.html#msg1492407

AHA! OK NOW I'm with you. Thank you very much! Not more complicated than that...:) hmmmmm......alzheimers  ???
I do not recall how I did my latest chains, also heavy duty ones. Old primary chains were both mounted same before according to my old photos. I guess that is natural for me if not thinking about it.
I'll open my case coming winter.. I'm curious how it will look like.  Very strange that I did not investigate the primary chains before.

Honda outside, Keith inside. Get to work sucka.
I am shocked!  :o  NOT!  :o  The deposits are not, I said "not", just pouring in.

As I suspected, you can buy a lot of primary chains for what one of these gear drive systems would cost.   :) ;) 8)

Does anybody have any pictures other than the one in this post of the primary internals of these Honda endurance engines?
I sure would like to see how they secured that gear to take the beating in the bottom case.
Find it kind of interesting that Honda went with the Hyvo chain in the DOHC's after using the gear in their protos.

There is a bigger problem with the gear between the crank and the primary. you change the rotation direction of the  final  drive shaft. the only way you can handle this problem you use a camshaft with a revers rotation and did´t use the kick starter. When i have time i will look that's a good project for the future. i have a guy how makes gearshaft and gears that's not the problem i have also a solution to set the proper  teeth clearance. It´s a really expensive project but i will look to find a solution to realize the geardrive. Did somebody have 3D modells of the engine that would help a lot.

mmm..... just a second, before you jump into the CAD ;)

no problem whatsoever with the RSC kit, idler gear rotates backwards, then final shaft rotates fwd again, just like with a chain :)

nice try ::)

Sorry that was a mistake with the rotation direction.
When i have a extra gear i didn´t change the rotation. my first idea was to use two bigger gears without an extra gear in the middle then i have the problem with the direction. Sorry it was inprudent. :-)

Any final root cause of the broken teeth?
-Was the primary hub involved? EDIT: The new rubbers were std or or harder?

I searched and found this old thread about hub restore/upgrade, if not chains might break. I guess with stronger chains, the cogs will be next to get problem.

I'm thinking about my prim hub that has over 100.000km's, sound at idle like it need to be restored, upgraded. My engine has 80+ RWHP
