Topic: help me identify front end on '76 CB750F

Hi guys,

Bike in question is a '76 CB750F. I recently bought it and am trying to figure out exactly what I'm working with here before I order parts. The previous owner claims the front end is from a '79 CB750F (owner before him did the swap). Can someone confirm this from these quick pictures I took? I can take more this evening if anyone needs more detail.

Thanks in advance. I don't want to end up buying parts that fit a 750 if these are from a GL1000 or something.

Thank you for that. I assume That's different from the '79 that the PO claimed it was?

How about the air bleeder valves up top? Should I keep those? Can I replace them with normal caps? Is there a benefit to them?

 Air fork adapters. If the forks hold air for a while they might be useful. Or I'm sure someone here would trade for stockers.

Check the threads on the caps / air-caps......................The stock air-units have different threads beginning in '79.............

I tried to 'borrow' a set of air-caps from a '79 model and they would not fit my '77 fork tubes.

I think so...79 750 was dohc so I would imagine it came with a new front fork as well.  Those air caps are aftermarket add on.  I had the same set on a cb550.  With fresh fork seals and 5 psi, the forks felt just a little firmer and more confident, but the pressure would not last for more than a few days.  Pump 'em up with a small hand pump with an accurate gauge, NOT your air compressor.  With no air, those caps perform exactly as stock.

I am not so sure. The 79/80 Honda CB 750F fork looks a lot like the one from the F2/F3 although it's a completely different engine. I need a side shot from the master cylinder to identify if its F1 or F2/F3. It's definitely pre-79 (round, not square). The 3-way Joint Assembly sure looks a lot like Goldwing to me. Instruments are F1 (green).

Fender is definitely F2/F3. Comstars look like F2/F3 with black between spokes and rim.

Pic of front brake caliber perhaps. Fork is probably F2/F3 though since fender and Comstar wheels most certainly are F2/F3. Why don't you compare against these pics.

Look at the lines on top of the bottom case. I believe, they match your fork as far as I can tell from your pics--which makes them F2/F3 (410 model code). The 79 doesn't seem to have them. But, again, my eyesight is not as good as it used to be.
