New rider, old bike from Hamilton ON
« on: July 02, 2015, 08:10:48 AM »
Greeting all
Figure this is going to be my home for a while until I get this whole motorcycle thing figured out. Just became proud parent of a surly, and slightly dirty 1976 750K. Still muddling through some work on it to get it certified and on the road as my commuter by mid summer. Having some starter issues, but I can usually kick start it on first/second go. Will be cleaning it up, replacing some things and generally making it truly mine over the next several months, but in the meantime, please expect lots of questions

Paul

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

Hi Raymonty, Was Rollie Free your riding instructor?

Hi Ramonty, welcome to the forum.  Funny thing, I was looking through and old classic cycle mag and the story of Rollie and pics of his "riding style".  Too funny.

Welcome! This is the place to feed your new addiction, affliction or hobby. However you want to look at it. I had a 1976 CB750K. It wasn't a show bike, not even close. I miss it a lot. Again welcome! Now you are one of us.  One of us, one of us, one of us.......

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Actually got my M1 yesterday and took the beast out on its inagral ride, albeit on the short ally behind my house so no wind blowing through my hair. Managed to get up to 2nd gear thought, and I was in the appropriate riding position , feet on pegs and butt on seat .
