Which cb750k to buy?
« on: July 02, 2015, 12:12:17 PM »
Looking for a cb750k.  Pristine condition.  The question is which year do I want?  Had a few opinions. None of them agree.  Recommended: 71, 75.  Most agree do not buy a 77 or 78.  Confused.  Please help.

Why not buy 77 78?  They are great bikes and just have some minor differences...

If I have to do it all again, I'd get a 75 or 76F...The F bikes with spokes...then I'd GSXer the front

I have a 78K and I am happy with it too

What's your budget ? Pristine K0-K1 may set you back some serious dollars. Real nice 72-76 K bikes are doing quite well also. F bikes and 77-78 K bikes bring a lower price point usually.

My favorite was the K1 but as ekpent said  a pristine one will set you back some serious dollars.  Not a fan of the K7/8 looks but all the idiosyncrasies were ironed out by then.  Good luck with your search...Larry

Owned  K7 and it's a great bike. I just happen to like the original styles of the 69 - 76 best. Check your budget and go from there. You may get more satisfaction if you buy a fixer upper and have fun working it from there.

Check the restore projects on this forum. An OEM style K0-K6 with 4-4 are really nice!
It also depends on the person and old memories. The earlier tank design is something extra for me when I remember the old bikes before I was allowed to drive one. K0-K2.   I have 2 fresh tanks with the later decals K3-K6, original tank for my K6 need to be redone and my old service tank can be repainted in K1-K2 style, gold as I remember the fist CB750's I saw..

Kawasaki Z1-900 72-75, Z900-76 OEM style are OK too. Z1-1000 77 had same design here except rear disc brake and still spoked rims.

Everyone knows the 78's (both F and K) were the fastest!   :o  ;)  ;D

FWIW they are all good. Just try to find one that hasn't been too badly abused and/or neglected.

Deals take time and patience. If your looking for a mint cb750 the f bikes are the best bang for the buck IMO. I love them but don't seem to command the prices of the Ks at this time

Thanks.

What do you think it is worth?

Needs battery and help to bring it alive from years of sitting.

I am in NJ-the bike is in Oklahoma-how do I get it inspected before making a bid?

I want to have a K0 in mint, original condition--for under $ 2,000. I don't know the first thing about them. But it should have warranty to be on the  safe side.  Also: can anyone tell me what I should have for breakfast today?
I am not introducing myself to the forum either. So there.

Gary are you a mechanical person? Do you know enough about bikes to check them out before you buy if you see one in person? That would be a big plus. You sound like a pretty picky guy which is fine, but then I would suggest not buying something unless you can see it in person. How much are you willing or capable to spend?
