2 into 1 for a CB350G
« on: October 23, 2006, 07:20:36 PM »
I need a new exhaust system. My originals look good but are heavy and the baffles are rattling.
I have my eye on a MAC 2 into 1. I doubt that its a real high performance system, but should be an improvement and save weight.
What do you think of this product?????

I guess you are all as apprehensive about it as me. Here is a link to an auction for the Mac 2 into 1
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-CB350-2-INTO-1-CHROME-EXHAUST-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35596QQihZ004QQitemZ140023992599QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
What do you think after seeing it?  I have inquired at the local dealer and they will get back to me as it is a special order part.
Do you know of any cool exhaust systems for the CB350 twin?

Looks like a pretty decent setup to me. I haven't really paid much attention to stuff for the 350, since I haven't had one for some time now. Back when the 350G came out, my brother-in-law got one and put a Hooker header on one with a short reverse cone megaphone and it looked good with a good sound to boot. I would have loved to have that bike. If you get it, I'd like to see some shots of the 350 with it installed. I've got some CB450K models that I may be looking for exhausts for someday.
Good luck and I'll catch you later on, Bill

I have my local dealer looking up this system but he is so slow I had to call Mac myself to find out they have only one on the shelf. He said that they sell only 5 or 6 of these a year. The guy on eBay must have them all. I think this is potentially a really cool exhaust. There was a Basani 2 into 1 that sold on eBay about a month ago for $560. I looked like a very sweet system.

I put a MAC 2-1 on my CB400T, and had to beat the snot out of the baffle to get it to stop rattling. Only does it between 4300 and 4500 now. Haven't messed with the jets, but it does run a little rich.

my friend hs had a MAC 2-1 on his CL360 for years. seems to interfere with the rear  brake travel. but the 360 is a totally different frame & peg setup from the 350 that i have.  His bikes don't have any clamps where the muffler meets the header. And they blow soot out the joint on each. He thinks it's ok and leaves it that way.  I think it's a half done install!

I hope it will fit well, but I fear the pipe joint will leak. Any ideas? I could use header wrap somehow. It would seem hard to clamp the 2 into 1 joint. I should pick it up later this week, however my motor won't go back in for a few weeks.

I just installed a nice used MAC 2-1 on my 350 last night... it's actually a lot nicer than I thought it would be, and quite a bit lighter than the stock CL350 exhaust.  Definitely not as heavy-duty though.  The other 2-1s I've seen on Ebay have been commanding crazy prices, I can't believe it.

I love the bike! How does it sound and how does it fit?
Is it's lack duty going to affect its use?
Do you have an option of left or rightside mount?
Why did you choose left?
Have you done a top speed run yet?
What was your top speed?
Any performance gains?
Did you consider coating the header pipes in an anti bluing coat?

 8) ??? :D

Thanks!  The install was easy, only took a few minutes - it really only has one bracket that bolts on with the passenger peg mount.  I've heard about issues regarding MAC exhaust fitment, but at least for this setup I had no problems.  I mounted mine on the left hand side because that's where the previous owner had his mounted, but I don't think it will mount any other way.  It's a lot lighter than the stock CL pipes (and the heavy stock CB pipes I was planning on running), but I really don't think that will affect it's usage.  They won't last 30 years but I think they'll last a while if you take good care of your bike.  I was considering getting them ceramic coated black, but the chrome on my set was like new.  I'll probably just coat the insides with high-temp paint and keep them clean on the outside.

They are louder for sure, but I didn't even look at the baffle to see what kind of shape it's in.  Sorry I can't comment on any real road use, but it's been raining non-stop here in Oregon and the bike hasn't been out of the garage.  When it dries out here a bit I'll take it out and let you know.

I'm still waiting for my system to come in. I'm getting a little annoyed at customer service expert Wes for never getting back with me and forgetting all about my order. Meanwhile, I'm so into my bikes.
I just purchased a nice cafe seat and am looking at a fiberglass tank and rearsets. I've got to go out in the garage now.... I can't stand it. :)
