Topic: Front wheel hub thread repair CB500

Hi all,

I recently removed the front wheel bearing retainer and despite drilling out the dimples I think my Hub and retainer may have gotten somewhat damaged during the removal as it was not easy!!

I know the retainers are somewhat easy to acquire but what I am wondering about it how to repair the inner threads of the hub.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have searched around and found people using s thread file or rotating a tap around the outside of the threads to help clear and straighten them out. Does anyone know the thread pitch?

What advice or tricks you guys got for me?

Depending upon the damage, you can use a tap and clean up the threads. If yours is too damaged, a have a good condition hub willing to find a new home with a member-

The tap works, I used it myself.  The trick is to to use the tap to "comb" out the damaged threads.  To find the pitch, imprint it on a piece of paper and measure it with a caliper, they are metric for sure.
