I've got a motorcycle-related injury!
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:47:32 AM »
I suppose I should consider myself lucky...after-all, this is the first time in more than a half century that I was injured with a motorcycle and had to visit a hospital.

It's a bit embarrassing  :-[ but I hurt myself trying to put my GL1800 up on the centre stand.  I had backed it up into a spot using the reverse  ::), because I didn't want to put it in nose up on the slight incline.  I had learned the embarrassing way that it's easy to put on the stand that way, but not so easy to get it down when you want to leave.  At any rate, the slope was a little too much and when I was using my leg muscle to try and put it up, I heard and felt some crunching noises from the arch of my foot.  After hobbling around for a few days I was advised to have it checked at emergency.  They did some X-Rays and concluded that I had some stretched some of the ligaments and probably slightly chipped a bone.

I guess its going to stay on the side stand for a while.

They didn't for me.  I didn't injure it putting a bike on it's sidestand, but I did crack a bone and tear some tendons in my left foot saving the bike from dropping after some fool cut me off in traffic.  It was surprising how little it hurt, but how long it took to heal.

Hope you get better soon Hondanut!

This stand looks like a nice option.  I wonder if there are any reviews or comments by people who have it installed.  The one thing I question is trying to park on a slope - would it work?  Even a slight incline makes the bike either too heavy to lift onto the current stand or too heavy to get it off, depending on the direction of the slope either forward or back.

Thanks for all the wishes for recovery.  It probably will take a few weeks.  They didn't give me any extra support, just said to keep it iced (that helps to prevent swelling).  I expect to use it as an excuse to avoid some extra walking as it hurts to do so and causes me to limp.

I think Amazon had some reviews.
