see, that's the thing...in the hands of Mr. Buell, Evo Sportster 1200 engine makes 30 or so extra hp and revs 1000 or so more rpm, and is still relatively reliable...then the lastest, bestest Buells used a Rotax V-twin...

And it was still clunky until he was able to drop the Rotax in.
They saddled him with so much crap that would have drove a normal man insane.

I rode a Lightning during a demo at a Park City, Utah bike show years ago. They took us on a 20 mile loop. I stayed in the back so I could lag behind a little to gain a little room for seeing what it would do. It wasn't clunky at all. I was impressed with it. The only issue I had initially was that I kept bumping into the rev limiter. I had ridden there on the CBR which has a redline at ten five, so I had to acclimate a little and short shift the Buell. Took about a mile to adapt. The bike was a hoot.

Nor the many professional people that ride HD,  or the folk that just ride their bikes with regular gear.
 The ones that stick out in your mind  are not the only ones riding them.
 Same applies to sportbike riders and other groups.

No, I've never seen any of them. Just the do-rag, leather vest, screaming up and down our two block main street on Saturday night standard harley crowd which Eigen mentioned. Have yet to see the crotch rocket crowd.

Nor the many professional people that ride HD,  or the folk that just ride their bikes with regular gear.
 The ones that stick out in your mind  are not the only ones riding them.
 Same applies to sportbike riders and other groups.

Of course I haven't, they aren't drawing attention to themselves and therefore no one sees them.  I'd wager half the bikes in the motorcycle lot at work are Harleys - all types and none of the riders are 1%'ers or posers.  But that was hardly my point.  I'm equally annoyed by squids, the bane of the sport bike.

I've been to the Southern California Motorcycle/RV auction several times.  The sheer number of Harley's (all in good condition) repossessed and offered at auction VASTLY outnumbers every other make.  I was informed that this was but a portion of used, repo'd Harleys kept off the market so that demand for new bikes is not cannibalized.

That's more like it mate, I've got a spot located conveniently next door to the Kinglake Pub, 2000 feet above sea level, with some excellent riding roads thru the hills, so you better come over as well Cal, by the time the container arrives it'll be Spring, and excellent riding (and drinking) weather!
