Glad to hear ya held on to that bike, Chung. I know you had to leave some bikes behind when you moved away.  Can you do top end work with the engine still in the "A" frame?  Seem to recall hearing you could (maybe from you).
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

I have two buddies that are both building some wicked Cafe's for the 2007 riding season (along with my 450 build)..

My bud Chris is the owner of the "starship" bike. He is doing a 1/2 Cafe-1/2 Vintage cruiser kinda thing, with white walls and black powdercoated wheels, black & white 2-tone paint, mini gauges, etc.. Gonna be a clean/low machine when completed..

My buddy Danny (owner and builder of the Triumph bobber in my gallery) is taking a stab at doing a CB750 this winter as well. He is the one who owns the BCR (Benjie Cafe Racers) seat I posted about, 16'' rear, rearsets, Custom flush mount LED taillight, and a wicked stretched tank which is gonna be a fuel tank/oil tank/ & electrics holder all in one (wait till u guys see it!)

As progress gets made, I will keep ya guys posted...

I've got a '76 550K that is going through the cafe process.
New clubmans are on, and exhaust is ordered.  Changed break light and turn signals, and am replacing some bad wiring.  I am going to work on the carbs in January, and paint in the Spring.  I was looking at new seats, but may hold off since mine stock is in perfect shape.  Hopefully ready for the riding season in March/April.

I got a 73 CB 750 giving her the full treatment after 16 years of abuse (first bike).  First, got a tank and seat combo from BCR (black whale like) I would love to be able to do my own metal work, but just do not have the time or ability right now.  The bike has been stripped to the frame, I cut everything off that I did not need getting ready to send the frame, rims and a few other pieces to the powder coater.  Motor is getting a fresh 836 kit along with new paint and chrome pieces.  Trying to decided on the paint still, orange or grey?  I have got a bit to decide.  Love all the picks of everyones cafes on this thread.  You guys have some great machines and I have gotten many great ideas......

KC! I also have to say that you did a great job on your bike. Good Luck with it. Raul

Thanks Raul  8)   Hopefully it will be looking good enough to be included in the Bike of the Month sometime next year.

I'm building a cafe out of a CL350--not an SOHC/4, I know.  I kicked it over a few times and actually got her to sputter...after sitting in a warehouse since 84. I plan to lengthen the tank a few inches and cafe the sides. I'd also like to figure out a way to do without the battery, or use a very small battery that I can hide.

I'm doing to document my build at www.fiaccone.com. The bottom button leads to my cafe project.

Yeah that is something. Is it proportionaly accurate to the original Lotus super sevens? How does it drive with the cbr motor?

I have always wanted to build one of those but I sat in a kit replica once and my 6'5" frame wasn't having it. The american hotrodder in me wanted one with a jeep 4.0l inline 6 in the nose but I'm sure it would take serious mods to fit that as well.

Hi Geeto67
I have seen a article about a Lotus XI with a slant six in it. The original Lotus 7 frame was the same as the later Lotus XI frame. At 6' 5" I think putting you in a Lotus seven would be a bigger problem.

I don't want this to take this away from the cafe thread...

In a nutshell: yes, it very similar to a lotus seven, except mine is 2" wider and uses an IRS with inboard dampers. It has a CBR900RR motor turned lengthwise. One can fit many different motors in a se7en. There are even free plans for a wider/longer frame. If you're interested, PM me and I'll point you there.

Again, appologies for the thread distraction.
