You'd have shot him just for that?

Did you notice how dilated his pupils were, in broad daylight?  That guy was either on something, or was really in a rage.  Did I say I would've shot him?  No.  But I would imagine having a .45 pointed at your face would've calmed him down in a heartbeat until the cops got there.

I don't think that is necessarily the case. I believe the introduction of a .45 in a situation like this could have made things a lot worse. I honestly can't recall a situation that was satisfactorily resolved by the use of firearms. They are, IMHO, the last resort, usually when extreme prejudice is intended.

Ask me how I know if you wish.

Kev

Well I do.  Friend of mine presented his Glock and avoided car jack at a gas station.  He is 80 or so guy, without having gun he would loose his truck.

But you are right, keeping your cool and trying to get out of the situation without a fight or fire is the best way.

But say the cager would smack the girl hard enough to knock her down and she would get hurt, what than?

Fair question Prokop. Escalation would need to occur, but without going to the worst case scenario.
Personally, if that scenario unfolded, I'd probably have nutted him with my helmet and kicked him in the balls as he dealt with that situation. Enough to keep him distracted till the old bill arrived.

But I'm a peace loving fellow, I hate these situations. Maybe it would have been best to run the lights when he saw looney tunes get out of his car with malice in his eyes.

Yuma! I figured someone would be old. That dude had crazy eyes. At least he went down easy.

I'd have a piece of advice for that cage driver...don't bring a fist to a gun fight...after he punched, I would've unholstered my .45 and taken care of business...

Yep and I won't be visiting you in prison from shooting an unarmed person..

Did I say I would've shot him?  No.

REALLY?  Hey George Zimmerman, this contradicts your initial response:

I'd have a piece of advice for that cage driver...don't bring a fist to a gun fight...after he punched, I would've unholstered my .45 and taken care of business...

A fight isn't a "gun fight" without shooting.  And what other type of "business" are you going to take care of after unholstering your .45?

Just own it.

That reminds me of the video (viral a couple of weeks ago) of the biker knocking some sense into some enraged cager with his helmet -- fairly effective.

Good one ! I saw that at the time. As shirty as the cager was, and thoroughly deserving of the loaf he received, the scrubber that got out of the pickup rightly scared me. They are the situations where I would just run like fcuk. Can't deal with people like that.

I suppose I am either a coward, or afraid of what I could do if sufficiently provoked.

Watch the video again! The attacker wasn't particularly difficulty for the motorcyclist to take down.
He could have really hung a licking on the guy if enraged! Without the use of firearms!

I love that video. The bike wasted not time addressing the cager with a good helmet head butt.
Another "must do" added to the bucket list. LOL

Jimmy is 100% correct. The guy went down like a boxer taking a dive.  And the cager was SO lucky the biker didn't decide to use his nugget as a timing bag.  All without the use of his .45!!

I wouldn't be so cavalier as to scream at a guy pointing a gun at me, calling him a pu$$y, but this seems to be appropriate.

Note:  the biker is so pissed off that a .45 pointed at him (by someone unholstering their gun and taking care of business) does not "calm them down in a heartbeat."

ALSO NOTE: the driver has a Alabama license plate "Curing Childhood Cancer."  With what? His loaded .45!??

You never want to get into a confrontational situation like that, especially when some tool is waving a gun in your face.
Maybe guns have become so prevalent in American culture that they have lost their effect without actually shooting someone. Isn't there a law against uttering a threat? Especially when waving a gun at someone.

Yes, Jim. That qualifies as a criminal threat under Cal. Penal Code 422 (formerly a terrorist threat).  It gets an enhancement when combined with brandishing the firearm.  In California the threat can get you 1-4 years, and the gun will tack on another year.

But let's all ride with smiles on our faces and keep our fingers (and helmets) to ourselves. It's dangers of out there and I for one, would be deeply saddened to read of anyone's passing due to a stupid lane change!

There certainly is in each and every state in the country. And as I said above, it's a felony.

The circumstance 70CB cited about the Older Gent defending a carjacking is tricky. You'd better be inside the vehicle, and not outside of it. You can not defend property with lethal force, only innocent victims. Which means, if you participate in a road rage incident, you can no longer use deadly force to defend yourself as justification. Best to ignore the gesticulations and horn honking being thrown at you, and carry on. If someone tracks you down, and you've done nothing, different story.

But let's all ride with smiles on our faces and keep our fingers (and helmets) to ourselves. It's dangers of out there and I for one, would be deeply saddened to read of anyone's passing due to a stupid lane change!

Cal is mostly correct as the severity of the crime.  In California, the offense is wobbler -- meaning it can be charged as either a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the circumstances.  Add a gun into the equation, and it is a felony.

You'd have shot him just for that?

Lol, I knew that response would get a rise from our anti-gun members.  That cage driver was clearly out of line, assaulting both people on the motorcycle.  Did you notice how dilated his pupils were, in broad daylight?  That guy was either on something, or was really in a rage.  Did I say I would've shot him?  No.  But I would imagine having a .45 pointed at your face would've calmed him down in a heartbeat until the cops got there.  You anti-gun nuts need to calm the fcuk down.  Don't be hatin' just because your country doesn't have a Second Amendment, get over it!

The people shouldn't fear their govt, the govt should fear the people...

You really aren't that bright mate, for a start, who's anti guns..? I shoot, so does half my family, My 2 Brother in laws were  Australasian trap and skeet champions, we just don't need to feel tough like you and brag about guns, For 2, that guy's eyes are clearly pinned, thats what happens to your pupils in sunlight, 3, he looked like he had never had to fight in his life, his punches weren't coordinated what so ever, he also knocked his head on the ground when the young guy EASILY took him down. Trying to be a hero by pulling a gun will get you shot.  You are creating a pretty ignorant profile of yourself here lately with the stupid sh1t you go on about. What If the car guy was armed , dick heads like you cause more sh1t than you solve, you just think your a hero, its people like you that shouldn't be allowed to carry, and as for your fcuking 2nd amendment, who the fcuk cares...hahaha.   If you weren't so stupid you'd probably know that guns aren't banned here in Australia, we just don't give them to dick heads..... Pretty simple really...

This moron later told the cops that the biker threatened his life and drew on him when the biker pulled a cell phone out of his pocket.  The fact that AFTER he knew there was no imminent threat of great bodily harm and kept waiving the gun and saying he was going blow the biker's f'ing head off lost him his carry permit.  [All in front of a police station!]  He got off easy, since the biker did not press charges.

I like how the biker invited him to step out of the car, and his response was to keep jabbing the gun at the biker and to threaten him.  Wow, that guy is a tool!!  If he felt that threatened, all he had to do was walk into the police station.  I'm surprised he didn't point it at the biker sideways!

You can definitely tell when that guy on the ground realizes how bad he's just fuqked up :)
The guy on the ground has the eyes of a bully that has been called out. He has probably been getting away with it for years, and now he is about to pay the price.

I have guns and that is not the time pull one out.

It is and will continue to be an epidemic in the USA.
Especially with pro-gun propaganda like this.

Actually it is time to have people just be still about it and let both sides of the issue calm down.
