moving right along, removed the head and found pitting in the cylinder walls from water. Needs a bore, valve guides were loose, replacing guides and valves.

I definitely prefer the look of the earlier featherbed frames to the later isolastic style frames, do the later 850 engines fit in the early frames..?

yes mick the engine will fit in the featherbed frame, but the crank should be balanced to stop some of the vibration, they were raced with the 850 engine here, some taken out to 920.bill

According to the Access Norton forum there are now better choices for elect ign, a lot still use this brand. I'm sure the new versions are improved. Power Arc electronic ignition seems to a good choice, I've been dealing with Old Britts for parts and they prefer this ignition system over there old favorite Boyer. I'm keeping what I have unless I have problems, mostly because of my budget, My income dropped, just retired (i'm definitely not complaining). Anyone want to buy a 1973 Yamaha SC500 (grips will be included) to help fund the Commando, LOL.

thanks, Mark

I was walking my sister's dog back in February and stopped to chat with a neighbor about a CB450 sitting by his garage rusting and he invited me to see his project. He said has been working on it for about 10 years. He thought he would finish this year, but I haven't seen it out and about.
