Armagos Creek Sand Blasting
« on: July 22, 2015, 01:26:16 AM »
1976 CB400F SS been sitting outside uncovered for over 30 yrs, few years ago the motor was pulled out and put in another CB400F SS frame (its motor started missing, losing power,) and and ran with no overhauling anything, except the swapping the carbs. Motor that developed problems had 30,000 miles on it, motor in back had 8,000. Recently decided to look past the "parts bike notion," and see what there was there. Some main components, Front End, Swing Arm, Rear Wheel and Axle had never been taken off from factory condition. Handle bar clamps never adjusted.

When it was acquired long ago, it looked kind of beat up. Seat had been covered in a fake fur that was spray painted blue, tied on by a clothes hanger wire.  Every bolt that was moved had been changed to a different threaded bolt such as SAE Fine Thead or Course Threaded square headed fence bolt. Plumbers tape was formed into a battery box and electronic connection point. No airbox.

Found a bucket of sand from a local Sand Wash that only runs during the rain, sifted it through a sieve used in gold mining. Blasted it, primed it 2 times with Rustoleum Automotive Primer, 45 minutes apart, 45 mins after that put a coat of Rustoleum gloss black high temp (500 deg) engine enamel. 30 mins later (in the dark) fog coated it again with the same.

Post some picts in the AM when I find the phone.
