Need to know 2 bolt sizes
«
on:
July 21, 2015, 06:13:25 AM »
Hi everyone,
I need to helicoil two bolts. One of the 6mm alternator cover bolts and the 5mm bolt that holds the tach cable in. What I need to know is the thread coin for these two bolts. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!

think they are standart metric
(standart metric normal threds)
m5#0,8,, drill 4,2 mm=5-0,8=4,2
m6#1,0,, drill 5,0 mm=6-1 =5,0
for helicoil,, drill
m5 helicoil must be 5,20mm,, drill
m6 helicoil must be 6,30mm,, drill

Out of curiosity, if you get a helicoil/timesert kit would they include the proper bit sizes?

I bought a set like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/131-pc-Stripped-Thread-Rethread-Helicoil-Repair-Kit-Metric-M5-M6-M8-M10-M12-/171446136721
because it was overall cheaper than just one size kit.

That kit is less than one size at Carquest! I don't know about the quality but the price is good.
