It's all a personal preference thing. I actually like the machined finish coming out of the CNC, too.

After machining I need to do polishing. There is simply to much imperfections to leave it like that.

Weigh them if you can .. And stem.
Have made a few Aluminum. Stems from 7075.
Why did you choose 6082 for trees over 6061?

Will do that. I can read weight from CAD directly when I get next to my PC.

I am located in Europe. Everybody is using 6082 now. It is getting hard to source 6061 here...

Please sell me one of those clamps!
Wait a little bit..  I just started posting in this forum ;) But thx
I'm interested as well. I noticed on your instagram page (https://instagram.com/p/5J5XIGN7zW) that you mentioned "Production line..." I confess, that made me sit up in my chair! ;)

Yes I did 5 top clamps(stems, nuts) because I was thinking someone will interested also, but not this fast :) I need to check some things before I can give them. Also I would like to be first to use them... But when I see how much I go in to details... :)

Your bottom clamp has no steering stop integrated into the part?

It in the plan to drill holes for bolts which will serve as stops.... I can't integrate stops because maybe I will want different angle on stops depending on let's say tank etc...

I just found 2 bikes for the project. They are F1 and F2... I opted for the f2 because it was cheaper and I currently drive F2 so I will take some spare parts :)

Are you sure that the motor in the frame on the right is an F motor, as the crankcase is not black?

To be honest I haven't looked to much at F1. If I remember somebody was massing with the paint on that bike.... probably polished the engine

So I covered 700km on my bike in 3 days. The only thing I lost is speedometer. Tachometer cable broke because of rust :) I will cover probably 800km more but thats the other story....

I have good internet connection now so I can post pictures of HUB I made.

This is probably the most complex thing I have made for this build. The hub is made on 4 axis CNC. It was really hard to make one copy of it because Machine shops don't won't to wast time on one copy. But I made it, thats important :) Custom spokes were made according to my specifications by some company in Germany. Rim(18x3.5)) is from some no name company in China but it is real quality.  Made from 7116 T6 Al. One big rim company is using this rims with there logo(will not name them;)) Originally rim was polished aluminum, I did Anodized it with black finish and then clear powder coat it. For the rear I will be using wheel from KTM ADV 1190 R. It is 18x4.5 but thats for some future post...

I still need to anodize the hub...

Enjoy the pics ;)

That's some impressive work. It looks like you are a bit further along in the project and catching us up. Showing the build progress in increments is better than, "hey it's all done" in one post.

That's a pretty wide front rim. What size tires are you planning to use?

Current stage of build is more of making all of nacecary parts and than making the build in short time ;). I think it would be stupide if I posted all at once. It would look like spam.

I am planing to use 120/70zr18 in front and 170/60zr18. I did buy tires. There were a lot of figment problems at the back... But basicly I will use round swingarm from 1981 boldor. And yes I did make custom front and back sprockets, but future posts ;)

Nice hub, looks good, how much would they cost?
, I think it carries a lot of extra weight though, compared to your rear, or say a flattrack quick change hub..

The hub weights around 1.6kg(3.5lb). It can be reduced more by 200-300g but it carries more machine work... This one costs me around 600EU to make(with material and work). I think it can be slashed by half if I make 10 copes. RAD is making similar hubs...

Ok, I am back.... Covered 1800km on my F2... I lost clutch cable at 1000km(I had spare one because I knew this would happen)... And 1 or 2 pistons stopped working 50km before end of journey. But I drove it to the end... I need to investigate that tomorrow. Coils or sparks went I hope...
Also I burned 1.5L of oil. I hope I didn't damage something internally because I was driving 150kph without that oil for 300km. No red light for oil. Opinions?

But back to main thing;)

Thank

For my project I will do Aluminum tank and tail. I have a friend who is working like a metal shaper but he never did something like Motorcycle tank. I don't except to get finished tank in 3 months. There will be a lot of practice before we get something acceptable. We will use AlMg3(5754) 1.5mm thick. AlMg3 because this is available here... We already tried to model something and this alloy is really good for metal shaping and welding. Yes it will be all welded gas welded. Main tools for shaping will be planishing hammer  and my friends hand hammer ;)

Everything is designed and modeled in Rhino3D. I made wooden buckets for metalshaping. Actually it is not wood it is particleboard 4mm thick. Cut on laser CNC... How else :)

Tank

The tank is nice (I confess, I'm a fan of the shorter, rounder tank), but the tail--particularly the transition from seat to cowl--is one of the prettier ones I've seen. Shucks, the whole thing is pretty! Even your forms could find a permanent home in mine. ;)

I hope you find solutions to your engine problems...
