Isn't a "Hummer" some kinda faggy four wheel drive Jim? :)

I'm a XXXL too, that's why my smallest bike is a CB750, I don't believe in "Cruelty to motorcycles", ha ha! :)
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Man, I was REALLY close to trying my hand at getting that one...visions of a MegaSquirt EFI CB750 in my head. Cooler heads prevailed though.  ;)

G'Day Jim, well the guy who I bought one of the Kawasaki ARD's from here in Oz sent me a round alloy "adapter" plate so it could be used on a Honda, but there must be a part missing, because it doesn't fit.

Personally I think I'll just mill a chunk out of the "Kawasaki" mount on the ARD and machine up a round adapter plate that actually fits a Honda. All I'd need then is a really good alloy welder to weld the plate to the modified ARD housing. You don't know any really good alloy welders, do you Jim?  ;D

Hey Terry!  Hondaman too..

Wouldn't that ARD magneto fit on a 550 also?  All of the rest of the points, advance plate, etc. are interchangeable between the 750 and 500.  Just curious.

Also..the thread on Joe Hunt Magnetos is a real rush!   Being originally from L.A. area..and racing in late 50's thru 60's..they were "de rigueur".  Has it really been 45 years!

Yeah, it should fit mate, from memory though two of the mounting holes will need to be re-drilled to suit the 550, but I sold a CB750 ARD magneto to one of the members here for his 550, and I think it fit ok? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ha ha, nah, not yet mate, I bought another Suzuki GS1000 with Yoshimura 1100 kit and cams, Koni shocks etc, if the engine is any good (the bike hasn't been dropped off yet) I'll install it in my GS1000S and make one complete bike out of the remains of this one plus some other parts I have and I'll sell it on EBay to pay for  what this one owes me. All going well I'll have a 120+ BHP engine for free! Cheers, Terry. ;D

What does this magneto bring? Better spark? Is it better than for example DYNA?

The Dyna 2000 is the best ignition you can buy at a retail level. The ARD is more for a achieving a particular look. It does throw a better spark than a stock CB ignition. I believe those units have a fixed advance which can make cold starting very interesting (especially if you are kicking it). I said before if you wanted the look of the mag you could gut it, install the Dyna 2000 and fit the new mini Dyna coils in the mag head. Best of both worlds I guess.
