Felt threatened today (sarcastic comment)
« on: July 22, 2015, 04:21:28 PM »
Felt my manhood threatened today - got passed on I-405 by a Honda Elite! ::)

Honestly I get passed a lot, I generally do the speed limit when I'm on the freeway, and since I'm in the carpool lane it's not uncommon for people to pass me like I'm standing still.  Still though, a Honda Elite - I was impressed it was even able to go that fast.

All that aside, I was irked by this guy - not because he passed me, but because he did so by swerving toward me to push me over to the side so that he could pass without having the change lanes. >:(  That would be the 3rd time in a month I've had a fellow rider do that to me.  What's with the riders around here?

The worst part is when the scooter riders park taking up a entire car space when I park in a space between spaces

It seems to me the riders on those speedy Ducati's and such are getting a little pushy against old guys on old bikes.  Even my little 360G will get respect from the Harley dudes - but not the speedsters.

That's pretty cool, although he gets a deduction in points for the flip-flops.

Still, dang awesome.

Please do not ever get out of the way for a lame ass Elite. And don't let one pass you.

That is a little embossing, surprised you are telling us about it!

Third time you've been pushed over, what lane and what side are you riding on?

I'm not really sure I'd call it embarrassing, except in jest which is what this post is really.  It's not like it's a race or something.  I'm actually more interested in this tendency to crowd out brother bikers from their lane than I am about a Honda Elite.  If someone wants to pass, there's a lane right there next to them just for that purpose.

It's a dickish move to pass another biker sharing your lane, especially if they haven't acknowledged you and waived you on (say in a carpool lane).  Pushing someone out of their lane to pass is an outright rude and dangerous move.  It does not really surprise me on the 405.  I do not commute on my motorcycle simply because of the way people drive on the 405 and 110 (cars cutting into the carpool/express lane when the double-double yellows are solid and squeezing you against the wall barrier).  I ride on evenings and weekends or midweek in the middle of the day.

If some a$$ clown on an Elite scooter tried that maneuver on me, I'd stand my ground and let him go around and give him the appropriate hand signal.

Welcome to the NEW Pugetropolis! No shortage of A-holios around here lately. I've had this happen a couple of times to me. I just chock it up to inexperienced and possibly not-long-for-this-world riders. The two guys that did that to me were both early 20s.  ::)
