how to remove swingarm bushings

Just tearing down my frame to get it painted and would like to remove the main bushings on the swingarm. What is the procedure? I'm sure there is a tool but has anyone used a different method. The bike is a K7.

I assume you are replacing them afterwards? A blind bearing puller will work and heating the housing with propane torch will definitely ease the procedure.

I just looked at the diagram in my manual and realized there is a center collar in there. Should it just come out with a punch and hammer? Once it is out I'll just carefully cut and punch out the plastic bushings. I have some new brass ones to replace them with.

Once the sleeve is out you can drive them out. Again, heating the tube will help ease them out. When installing the new ones, freeze the bushings overnight and then heat the tube and they should person easier. Use a press and not a hammer.

Does the sleeve just drive out as well? I gave it a few taps and it didn't budge so I don't want to hit it harder and damage it. Thanks.

1/2" air impact would have made the job a lot easier. I love my air tools.

Instead of the freezer I put my bushings in a small cooler with a couple of chunks of dry ice. No need to heat the swing arm, they just slid in.
