1976 CB750 Build moving on....well, apart..
« on: July 24, 2015, 03:55:33 PM »
Here is the point I am now with the left side covers pulled for polish. I still have to clean the carbs, pull the oil pan and clean out, and work on some basic wiring. I have a 4 to 1 coming and taking the 76 collectors off was sooo much fun. Nothing like pounding on your engine with a baby sledge!! I did find after the first one, that if you use the impact with seven blows then use a large channel lock on the impact to turn it, the screws with turn. So that is off. I am a week or so away from putting things back on the motor and a basic wiring for the first start up.
Comments....advice??

I will also have some parts for sale after I move along with it. Exhaust look ....7 out of 10 with one small hole in the #3 pipe on the bottom. Baffs gone to the wind.

edit, yes I have a replacement stator cover.

How much for the pipes ?

Looks good.  Every time get a new one  do the same things:   Clean the holy beejeebus out of the carbs and then I do it again - eliminate fuel as a potential problem.  3000 mile tune-up.  Set timing, valve tappets & cam chain.  New plugs.  It's a Honda, it will start.  I also like new coils, plug caps and wires, but you can get away with trimming up the old plug wires if you are re-using your coils.  New plugs and plug caps - those are cheap.  drop the oil pan while you have the pipes off and clean out the oil pump & screen if you already haven't

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Thanks, I did not think about the oil pump screen. Good call!!
