CB750K2 choke adjustment
« on: July 25, 2015, 09:19:38 PM »
I've got the carburetors off and I see the choke valves are all set very differently, with the first one at zero and getting larger from there.

The manual says to adjust them down of the clearance is over 0.02 inches, which the three and four are. Is there any lower limit to the adjustment? Can they all be set at or close to zero?

The choke linkages don't seem interested in rotating while in place. Do they have to be taken off and adjusted by guess and test?

Hi Jeremey, here is how you set it up after the rack is dassembled.  You should be able to pick up at a point or get the idea:

1.  Attach everything to the backplate, do not put the choke linkages on.  (Note:  1and4 at the end where the cotter pin attaches should be shorter than 3and4)
2.  Work with 1 & 2 only.  put the screw adjuster rod on for outer (one is longer and that is for 2and3).  close the choke.  Look at which one is higher/lower.  If 1 is lower, adjust screw adjuster IN.  if 2 is lower, adjust screw adjuster OUT.  When they are equal, put washer and cotter pin on #1 carb only.
3.  Repeat with 3and4 carbs (when they are the same, put washer and cotter pin on #4.
4.  Repeat process with 2and3.  When finished put washer and cotter pins on 2 and 3.

Do not keep that clear piece of tube attached, those two nipples are separate vents and each have their own dedicated tubes that go to the atmosphere that do not attach to each other.
Also the bowl on the #3 carb should have the drain screw on the other side, unless some have been replaced there are two matching ones for the right and two for the left side.

Do I just pull that clear tube off or do I need to add some vent lines?

The bike came with the wrong bowl on carb three. Are spare bowls readily available in the second hand market?

The stock vent lines are black and are around a foot or so long. The lay up on top of the air box area. The bowl you have is not a deal killer just hard to drain the carb if needed with the screw on the wrong side.
This E-bay pic show the bowls mixed up also  ;)

I'll swing by Lordco and get some vent lines. Are they 1/8" inner diameter?

I never thought that such a part would be on the parts diagram but I should have looked there first.
