There is a civil security base near me using the same aircraft. They often fly over in formations of 8 or so. Gets everyone looking up  :) These models can carry over 6000 litres of water. In French they are referred to as "Pelicans".

Canadian technology CL 415 if our gov had any clue they would et a few built with long range tanks
and upgraded equipment and use them for air sea rescue but of course that way too #$%*ing logical.

They are a hell of a piece of kit. Got to see some up close at Nimes airport (shared civil / Naval / Civil defence facility).
