hey guys. Ive been looking into getting a new exhaust system but alas can not find any options besides the MAC exhaust systems and to be honest they look a bit cheap. Does anyone have experience with these systems? How does the paint and chrome hold up? Also has anybody had luck finding other brands that would fit a 1979 cb650? Thanks, and as always all input is appreciated.

Motad also makes CB650 exhausts. I've got a Motad on mine. Very good quality!

I just installed a mac 4into1 canister on my 550 - it's a fine pipe, the black coating did scratch some from sliding the spigots into place.  The chrome is a bit more resilient. 

My biggest complaint - the tone was weak.  Not very sporty.  But a few 3/8 drill holes in the baffle made me smile.

I don't have a lot of experience but I have seen and installed the MAC 4-2 system on a 650. I thought the quality was decent. Sounded ok. It wasn't my bike nor my style but it was ok.

About 90% of the black coated exhaust system go off quickly. They're not a high quality finish and if you run lean, they will bake pretty quickly. If you don't look after them, then riding and moisture will corrode them. I install a V/H system in my sons Suzi and discovered this almost immediately. Yanked it off, and had it ceramic coated inside and out. All better now.

Thanks for the input. That was an idea. To by the headers and have them ceramic coated and just by an after market short muffler or something like that.

the MAC headers don't look too bad dressed up with a Cone engineering muffler.

Yeah those slip ons are nice. The system wouldn't look to bad with something like that. I don't like how the stock mac or megaphone canisters look.
