650 guys....Pamco Pete
« on: July 29, 2015, 04:02:23 PM »
Hey guys with 650 transplants ,even guys with 650's that need new wiring, or you guys that are sick of stupid cdi box prices...
PamcoPete got back to me about an electronic ignition that works off a 550 harness , and would like to do it if he has support.

650 wiring harness in good shape is getting hard to find , so what do you do? Buy an aftermarket 550 harness, Put in a Pamco ignition, forget about buying the expensive cdi boxes ....you won't need them.

Doing the 650 engine upgrade in your 500/550? You can use your 500/ 550 harness and not search for a working harness you already have.

Please PM Pamco  Pete , or show your support here, I'm sure he'll be able to answer any questions you may have.

Thought you all should know about this.
I am really interested in doing this on my bikes.

I'll be working with Pete on this. He made a custom Pamco for my engine swap when I did it and it worked perfectly.  I'm trying to remember the details.  I have pictures at home I can post later.

If I remember correctly, we used the stock CB650 timing plate and Pete drilled/tapped it for screws to mount the circuit boards and used a CB750 rotor.

I used stock CB500/550 wiring harness, coils, etc. The only thing we had to do was splice the wires from the alternator onto the correct plug for my harness. My bike was an early 500 and used the pin style plugs. It was straighforward, though....three yellows, etc. This had nothing to do with the Pamco, but I thought I'd mention it because it IS part of the 650 in a 550 frame swap.

Great ! , when you guys get it together  put me down for one .

I want to convert the first conversion back to a 550 harness asap and do the second conversion
in the fall. That'll be 2.
Buy then I'd a had some time to pick up another 650 and 500 somewhere's and I'll know if I'll need a 3rd one.

Thanks guys, I was really hoping for this to be available for a while, now it 's happening, This will be a game
changer.
