Need Stop Switch Bracket for 1977 cb750f2!
« on: August 07, 2015, 07:08:01 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Well, I am almost done rebuilding a '77 cb750f2 and (of course) after getting the motor back on the frame, carbs on, new rotors, tires, sprockets, fork seals, brakes, etc. with relatively no problems, the project is on hold over a F&@#*$%! rear brake stop switch bracket!

I've been looking everywhere online and have checked out a very cool local vintage bike Graveyard (Rice Paddy) with no luck. From my understanding this bracket (part #50146-410-000) is specific to the F model 750s from '77-'78. The earlier F models have a different part number so I'm not too sure if it will work.

Can anyone correct me about this bracket being specific to my F2 model, or am I able to use something off a K model or any other bike for that matter? Any input would be great!

I appreciate the help and can't wait to get her back on the road. The end is (hopefully) near!

it says its specific to the F, but i have a hard time believing that, as an F engine will fit in a K frame  ::)

...or just make one.

The seller claims this will not fit my bike. Looks like i will keep looking or possibly try and make one! If anyone has some spare laying around, i'll take it!

Thanks again

That one looks aftermarket... The factory one has stiffeners darts to prevent bending..

either one of those will work. neither really need the added side support as they only 'feel' the switch spring pressure, if installed correctly.

if you REALLY need to be sure, measure the OD of your rear upper case bolt, and ask for the ID if the hole on the stop (without the cutout)
Doing a complete restoration?  Then find an OEM piece.
If not, $9+postage an delivery time seems a lot for a part you could make in 20minutes  ::)

Heck, if its holding you up from riding, head to the hardware store, get a L bracket/support about 1.25" wide.   Cut, shape, and drill it.
Paint it and ride.  If its black, no one will notice the difference  ;D
