need a vintage shouldered wm3 x 18 40 hole rim.
« on: July 30, 2015, 06:58:57 PM »
Sorry to ask here instead of the wanted section, but time is an issue and I wanted to cast a wider net.  I could really use a vintage  wm3 x 18 aluminum shouldered rim in a 40 hole that is drilled for a disc front hub.  A Borrani would be great, but Akront etc just fine.  It doesn't have to be in perfect condition, just not bent or damaged.

Please let me know what you have kicking around the garage.  It's to go on a road race bike... ;)

I have a San Remo in that size............one tire-iron gouge that could mostly be polished away.........and a shallow flat-spot on one side that could be reshaped.  Its the wide flange style similar to Borrani and was mounted on a small bike rear. If nothing else turns up............I'd send it to you for the shipping cost and let you pay me what you think its worth AFTER you try it. Its been hanging in my garage for a few years.

Thank you for the generous offer. My understanding is that the San Remo rims were very lightweight compared to the other shouldered rims available.  As a result, they are not considered to be as tough as a thicker Borrani/Akront, etc rim of the same size.  I am putting together a cb750 based road racer for my 6'3" frame to ride, and I could use all the strength and stability I can get.  Please correct me if I am misinformed.  For now I will hold off for one of the tougher rims.  Your rim would be perfect for a dragbike or land speed bike though. ;)

I have a lead on a 60s vintage BSA small hub rear with a 40 hole Borrani- Record WM3 x 18 that would be perfect for me.  Hopefully this will work out.

I am looking for two front rims overall though.

The shouldered rims from Buchanan are pretty nice. Lightweight and trued up very easily.

I used 'x' Ducati (WM2/18/40/F small hub) & Moto Guzzi (WM3/18/R drum brake) on my 550.  Both came from Ebay.
