The advantage that you have posting on the site is Glenn and everyone else benefits by the old threads remaining viable when you need to see somethjng some one is showing. When they leave the list due to changing interests, injury, or heaven forbid death, then those images are maintained by the list for tbe goid of all owners. Additionally, you do not have to worry about maintaining those photos on that hosting site in perpetuity, also you do not have to fear of using up your storage space on a hosting site and needing to spend more for the growing space. Glenn can maintain the integrity of the images and threads and with good search tools newbies can be directed to old threads. Google's advanced search capabilities are pretty good if you are good at refining your search terms.
SO, I agree with Glenn's philosophy, it is sound advice. No repeat of this issue if other image hosting sites follow the path that Photo_ucket has taken.
How many old threads you bookmarked for reference on this site or other sites are now rendered all but useless?
I run into dead links on sites I am searching for answers to questions I have or on topics I am attempting to learn about. That is frustrating. It is tough when someone has done the engineering for a mod and used photos to save a "thousand words".
It is disappointing when that happens. Some members can recreate the thread photos importing them, but it can be a huge amount of work for lengthy photo intensive threads.
My $0.02 or more on Glenn's recommendation.

Wiring the munit this week. Then tuning and first ride hopefully by the weekend.
Need to update my post, but photobucket has now rendered itself useless.
Damned photobucket! (I just went back through your build thread.) I swapped to flickr but Glenn is happy having people post their images using the attachment function (below). I am looking forward to seeing your progress pics.
