Hello from Kentucky
« on: August 29, 2015, 11:15:31 AM »
Back on two wheels for the first time in about 10 years.  Found a pretty good deal on a '75 CB550k a week ago and jumped on it.  Runs pretty strong, but has some low idling issues, electric start doesn't seem to work...maybe a cam chain/tensioner issue, as well.  Also, noticing some seeping/leaks here and there.  Runs fine at speed, though and fires up on first kick most of the time.  Will be taking it in to a local shop for initial inspection this week to ensure road safety and to work out some of the gremlins.

Not particularly savvy when it comes to engines, etc.  But, I plan on doing some minor work myself so I am looking forward to learning form the forum.

My plan is a cafe-ish/brati-sh build...2up seating being a requirement so I can take the better half around town on errands.

Having trouble getting pics to load with this post.  Will try as separate post...

Paid $850 for the bike...thought that was VERY reasonable even with the minor issues.

Go Cats  ;)  Just dropped the kid off.

Great starting point with your bike.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Ha...alas, even though I am a UK Alum, I grew up cheering for Louisville.  However, UK has a great campus and recent development projects have really improved campus life in general.  Hope your son/daughter enjoys it!

Thanks!  Looking forward to getting started on the bike.
