From the 500/550 shop manual

Don't have the info your looking for but I guess you figured out that Bob gave you the valve clearance specs rather than the degree info?

I do believe that information is still in the factory manual.  The manual gives opening and closing numbers and even the checking height.  I am on the road at present and not near my factory manual, but typically the early fours had almost all the same numbers.  Most of them were or were very close to 5-40, 40-5.  Some were 10-45, 45-10.  Like that.  I believe the 500/550 is 40-5, which means the exhaust opens at 40 degrees.  Remember however that this is using a checking height of 1mm (0.040").

Edited because I had a brain fart and misread his question...   :)

Why is there never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over?

Then again, maybe he *was* looking for valve clearances...  Hmm.  In that case, friend, it's 0.002" for intake and 0.003" for exhaust.
