What crazy weather we have in Colorado
« on: October 26, 2006, 09:23:24 AM »
Hey All,
I was riding in 70 degree weather yesterday and woke up this morning with 5 or 6 inches of the white stuff on the ground and 32 degress out. then 68 again for Sat.

Time to break out the jeep with lockers :)

The weather here in the UK is strange also, we have had 3/4 seasons in the last 2 days, thankfully no snow. Time to get a winter bike?? Trail bike like an SLR, anyone have one or any comments about the SLR 650?

Paul,

Have you looked outside lately? I just finished (for now) shoveling 2 feet from my driveway so my wife can go to work. And it's still snowing. You boys at that low elevation (5200ft) don't get more than a foot or 2 at a time. Come on down to the Springs. We're at 6900 ft at my place. I think they are calling this a blizzard or something. Just a small nuisance if you ask me. Think I'll take the day off. It's drinking weather. I was out riding yesterday also. Saturday looks like riding weather to me. It's going to be gorgeous up in the mountains.

Hey Jerry, The Weather Channel was talking about blizzard conditions along I-25 last night. They were saying that everyone should stay off the roads today. Sounds like a good excuse to not go to work.  ;D

I just keep thinking about this: ::) :D

Of course, back here in Loserville, we're enjoying 3 beautiful days of rain...  :P

Well, a little south of you all (Santa Fe) we had ice this morning.  First time I was forced to leave the bike home.  Not ready to put it away just yet, though.  And tomorrow I have to ride my wife's new bike home from ABQ.  Just a little snow in the mtns above town from what I can see.

I love those monster lizzards. Les is the man.

3 beautiful days of rain probably followed by gloom, overcast, and humidity. And on top of that the water from the Ohio River(sewer) is nasty. I love Colorado! I don't really miss Lu A Vul but I do miss Bob and the guys at Magnum Cycles. When I pull one of the bikes out for a ride Saturday I'll bet the 4 - 5 ft piles of snow beside my driveway will have melted down to 3', the sun will be bright, the air will be warm, the sky will be beautiful blue, the roads will be dry, the peaks will be snow capped, and I will be smiling.  ;D ;D ;D

:P :P :P ;D Actually it's s'posed to be pretty nice this weekend and hi 60s/low 70s next week. Good riding weather and I might try to land one of those 3-eyed, 10 ft. catfish in the river. Then maybe watch a glorious sunset over the West End with a nice soundtrack of gunfire and sirens. Sigh.....how can you not miss that?  ;)

How about a 25lb striper from below the dam? Yeah, I guess you're right. Portland and the west end.

Have some video of that real blizzard in 03.   Did go for a ride yesterday.   Went east as usual and put on little more than 100 miles.   Bank in strausburg said 55 deg at 1230.  Couple points of interest there.  A shop there restores old steam engines.  From tractors to trains.  Another shop does john deere tractors and has a few dozen antiques around.

Paul,

3 to 4' sounds about right. You guys may have gotten more than we did. I drove south to Pueblo on Friday and there was very little snow in Fountain (S. Co Spr). I didn't clean that pile of snow off the roof of my car and you should've seen some of the looks I got. Our area always gets hit with the same snow as Monument hill & Palmer Divide. Our elevation is 6900'. We are right up against the mountains but you guys are a little farther away. 10am and its 65 degress. Looks like a good day to charge up the battery and perhaps a sunburn on my head. How's the F coming along?

70 degrees now. Beautiful blue skies. Dry roads. Gorgeous day. I'm not pissed because you have fair weather. Our's is great! Most people just don't understand Colorado weather. I'm taking the 812 out for a spin then plan on watching the Broncos beat the Colts and flip over to the MotoGP.
Ride 'em if you got 'em.
 ;) :D ;D :o
